Antica ed assai nobile famiglia spagnola, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni di Spagna e d'Italia, con due cospicui insediamenti in Veneto e nel Regno di Napoli. La famiglia ha avuto origine in Valencia da un Raimondo de Seguino, forse oriundo dall'Ungheria, gentiluomo di camera Doña Violante, seconda moglie di Giacomo I "il Conquistatore". Per ricompensarlo dei suoi servigi, il re gli donò il giardino di Alazadi, nella città di Mislata, appartenente al distretto giudiziario di Valencia, con il rispettivo magazzino, e due iugeri di terra e le decime che prima appartenevano al vescovo. Tra gli antenati del casato si annovera però anche l'Arcivescovo di Seins Seguino, che intervenne nel Concilio tenutosi vicino Reims per giudicare l'Arcivescovo Arnoldo, nell'anno 991, accusato di aver favorito il potere politico di suo zio Carlo I di Lorena. In ogni modo, la famiglia si spostò in Italia
