Di origine longobarda, le prime sue memorie in Milano rimontano al tempo di Federico II, in cui si ricordano, tra i prigionieri fatti da questo, Ranieri ed Ubertino, milanesi, i quali furono mandati a Napoli e vi stabilirono la loro famiglia, che poi si diramò a Genova, dove tenne albergo, in Firenze e in Sicilia. Agostino Arcivescovo di Genova; Aram commissario di sei galere che nel 1427 combatterono a Vernaza e Monteroso contro Tomaso Fregoso ed i suoi compagni che volevano togliere la signoria della città di Genova al Duca Filippo Visconti; Raffaele, cav. di Malta e commendatore, di Troja nel 1580, edificò l'arsenale di Malta; Caccianemico ed Aufremo padroni di galere in servizio della Repubblica. Tra i membri piú illustri della famiglia ricordiamo: Pietro, che con ottone Visconti ed altri Signori fu all'impresa di Terrasanta, seguendo Goffredo di Buglione.
