Rama de la familia de Siena Piccolomini, llamada Sena o Senna, se mudó a Cerdeña en la segunda mitad del siglo XIV con un Christopher, hijo del prefecto de las milicias de Siena. Su sobrino Giovanni luchó por Martino el joven en 1409 en la batalla de Santuri y, más tarde, de Alfonso V obtuvo el señorío de Lasconi y Parte Valenza como recompensa por su propio valor; en 1427 compró el feudo de Santuri de Santapau. En 1436 hizo que Sanluri fuera elevado a vizconde y obtuvo la baronía de Quartu.
