In considerazione di particolari benemerenze, il re Carlo Emanuele III, coi diplomi in data 19 agosto 1731, concedeva a Gavino, di Bortigali, ed ai suoi figli e discendenti da maschi i titoli di cavalierato e di nobiltà e l'uso delle armi gentilizie. Esistono vari rami di questa nobile famiglia. A) Da don Salvatore Angelo Sequina il cui nome era compreso nell'elenco feudatari, dei nobili e dei cavalieri, compilato, nel 1822, dalla Regia Prefettura di Cuglieri e trasmesso alla Regia Segreteria di stato e di guerra presso il viceré di Sardegna. Discende da don Bachisio, il quale lasciò due figli, don Battista e don Francesco Sequina. Il primo di essi, don Battista, sposò il 27 marzo 1853, Gavina Torchiani, dalla quale ebbe un figlio don Battistino (Battista), nato a Sassari il 4 ottobre 1855 e sposatosi in Bortigliani con donna Giovanna Angela Passino.
