L'antica gens italica dei Marassi, originaria di Vicenza, si divise quivi, prima del 1000, in vari rami, i quali, pur conservando da principio tale nome, furono poi specificatamente indicati con quello del luogo, ove avevano possedimenti terrieri e castello, così che questo nome del luogo divenne poi il loro vero cognome. Fra questi rami il più importante fu quello dei Marassi da Seratico o Serego (ora Sarego), Che è uno dei Comuni del distretto di Lonigo nella provincia vicentina. Secondo vecchie tradizioni popolari, raccolte anche dai due ultimi bibliotecari della Bertoliana, Mons. Bortolan e Mons. Rumor, un Riprando Marassi da Seratico fu nel 936 fra i cavalieri vicentini riusciti vincitori a Treviso in uno di quei tornei, pei quali andò allora famosa la marca Trevigiano, detta per ciò la marca gioiosa, e un altro Marassi da Seratico, insieme con un Maltraversi, un Trissino, un Thiene e un Vivaro, comandava ai
