La famiglia è posta dal Panuino , tra le patrizie Romane lette da Romolo; e non è inverisimile, che con la Fabia fosse partita dalla Toscana per governare la Republica nova di Roma, poiche queste essendo assuefatte al governare una Republica Toscana; poteva ben Romolo eleggere con la sicurezza d'un Buono, e esperimentato governo le famiglie. Questa famiglia S. possedeva non lungi d'Arezzo un sorta Castello, che signoreggiava quasi con la Città tutta la campagna Aretina, qual nelle guerre de' Guelfi, e Ghibellini fu disfatto, e nelle cui rovine fu fabricato un convento de' Zoccolanti riformati. Non è da maravigliasi se in Arezzo fossero i S., poichè questi erano della mesima Consorteria degli Anicj, e de gli Annj. Questa famiglia non fu inferiore all'altre, poiche ancor essa nella Republica Romana conseguì i consolati, i Decemviri con tutte l'altre dignità, che soleva confeire alle famiglie primarie il Senato Romano.
