Ancient and very noble Italian family, which originates from two as many noble families. The first, or that of the Serra, between origin from Gubbio, where in 1163, a Rinaldo was consul and captain. Later a Michele, from Brunamonte Serra, with his son Bernardo, settled in Bologna. In 1341 and 1347, others of this family were in Bologna, but the first one to speak of with certainty is Napoleon Serra, alias of Malvasia, who lived in 1380, from which Francesco descended, from which, in turn, there was another Napoleon, who had two wives: Rachele Caprara the first and Lucrezia Bottrigari, the second. This family, which became Bolognese, began to be noticed perhaps for its riches. They were bankers and, Cornelius, by Napoleon, in 1568, kept a bank near the Pescherie; which street was formerly called Trebbo della Malvasia, and probably may have given and changed the name of the family.
