Antigua y muy noble familia originaria de la Toscana, donde se llamaba Serragli y también Serraglis, de Pogna o della Cella, de Marcialla y también Serraglio. Con un Serraglio, de Paolo, de Girolamo, inscrito en el Cittadinario florentino del distrito de S. Spirito, gonfalone Drago, en 1642 con los hermanos Girolamo y Camillo y muerto el 13 de septiembre de 1684, esta rama de la familia se extinguió; varios otros miembros de la familia se extendieron con honor en la Toscana, pero también en varias regiones de Italia. Una de las diversas ramas familiares, originaria de Palaia en la campiña pisana, y de allí trasladada a Florencia, a la que se le asigna como progenitor un Giovanni di Vanozzo, prior de Florencia en 1391, bisnieto del mencionado ser Belcaro da Pogna.
