Famille ancienne et très noble originaire de Toscane, où elle s'appelait Serragli et aussi Serraglis, de Pogna ou della Cella, de Marcialla et aussi Serraglio. Avec un Serraglio, de Paolo, de Girolamo, inscrit au Florentin Cittadinario pour le district de S. Spirito, gonfalone Drago, en 1642 avec les frères Girolamo et Camillo et mort le 13 septembre 1684, cette branche de la famille s'éteignit ; divers autres membres de la famille se sont répandus avec honneur en Toscane mais aussi dans diverses régions d'Italie. L'une des différentes branches de la famille, originaire de Palaia dans la campagne pisane, et de là transférée à Florence, à laquelle un Giovanni di Vanozzo, prieur de Florence en 1391, arrière-petit-fils du susdit ser Belcaro da Pogna est attribué comme ancêtre.
