Provenienti da Cremona ov'erano presenti sin dal XIV sec. godendo prestigio e nobiltà, fissarono stabile dimora in Milano ottenendone la cittadinanza nel 1487; famiglia prevalentemente di giuristi non tardò ad affermarsi: il valore e la vasta dottrina di Giov. Battista q. Francesco gli acquisirono il laticlavio senatoriale nonchè la particolare benevolenza di Ludovico il Moro che lo incaricò di importanti ambasciate presso repubbliche e sovrani da tutti onorato e stimato. Durante una di tali missioni moriva a Venezia nel 1497 a trentasei anni. Il figlio Francesco, nato casualmente a Cremona il 25 ottobre 1493, seguì le orme del padre addottorandosi in entrambi le leggi; s'iscrisse a quel collegio di giureconsulti e, giovanissimo, tenne cattedra di giurisprudenza presso gli studi di Bologna, Roma, Pavia della quale città fu nominato podestà nel 1527.
