Famiglia oriunda di Cherasco, le cui più antiche memorie ci ricordano un Obertino, che fu sindaco ivi nel 1490. Ottavio Francesco, di Giovanni, acquistò parte di Battifollo dai Ceva il 19 febbraio 1719, e ne fu investito l'11 agosto successivo e il 31 gennaio 1738 con titolo signorile. Il 16 aprile 1734 fu infeudato dei cascinali di Malabalia, Bergonia e Borgoglio, e investito con titolo signorile il 20 successivo. Fu suo figlio Giuseppe, che fu padre di Sebastiano, da cui nacque Vittorio che fu investito della Malabalia il 5 giugno 1781. Ebbe costui numerosa discendenza. Maurizio, fu maggior generale e giurò coi nobili nel 1822; Angelo, fu tra i compromessi del '21 e giurò anch'egli coi nobili nel 1822; un Francesco, fu vescovo di Casale. Il primogenito Giuseppe, sposò Rosalia del conte Carlo Balbo Bertone di Sambuy, ma non lasciò discendenza. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col
