Questa chiarissima famiglia, che ne' secoli passati godè gli honori della sua Nobiltà del vetustissimo Seggio di Forcella, in somma Piazza, e finalmente in quel di Montagna, e che fin dal tempo della Regina Giovanna II. Un ramo di essa fu piantato nell'illustre città di Taranto, & annoverato nel Collegio de' Nobili di essa, ove attualmnete ne gode le prerogative, non ha dubio alcuno, che, sì per la veneranda antichità, pregiandosi d'averne certamente havuto per sua origine il gloroso S. Aspreno primo Christiano, e primo Vescovo di questa illustrissima città, come per l'insigni, e cospicui personaggi, che con geste magnanime, e generose fecondarono i tralci del loro vecchio lignaggio, sia una delle più antiche, e decorose della Napoletana Nobiltà.
