Famiglia di Calatafimi in Sicilia, ove fiorì un Vito, eminente giureconsulto, primo barone della terra di Vita e fondatore di questo paese che da lui prese il nome, nel 1605. Fu anche procuratore del R. Erario e dei Fisco del Magna Curia e presidente del Concistoro. Nicolò, suo discendente venne investito, nel 1787, della baronia di Vita, e da questi provengono in linea retta gli attuali rappresentanti della famiglia. Autori che parlano di questa famiglia: V. Palizzolo Gravina Barone di Ramione, nella sua opera " Il Blasone in Sicilia ossia Raccolta Araldica", stampato in Palermo nel 1871-75, ha offerto non poche notizie interessanti di questa famiglia, e delle gloriose tradizioni di quest'isola. Insieme al Minutoli, Invges, Mugnos e piu d'un instancabile Marchese di Villabianca, l'opera ha raccolto documenti, pergamene e testimonianze trasmesse da' componenti della casata stessa che parlano de' loro trascorsi, di virtù e gesta della propria schiatta.
