Antico ed assai nobile casato del Regno delle Due Sicilie, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatosi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e del Mondo. Secondo quando ci viene tramandato essa ha comune agnazione, condividendovi anche l'arma, con il nobile casato siciliano Lo Re Sigillo, a sua volta nato dall'unione tra i lo Re, nobili messinesi sin dal secolo decimoquinto, ed i Sigillo, di cui pochissime informazioni sono pervenute. Quel che è certo è che i lo Re Sigillo furono riconosciuti quali nobili messinesi nel XVIII secolo ed infatti risultano in quel periodo ascritti nella mastra nobile di quella città in persona di un Antonino, del fu Felice, e di un Luigi, del fu Antonino. Il ramo propriamente detto Sigillò fiorì invece nobilmente in Calabria e, più precisamente in Polistena (Reggio Calabria), ove ancora oggi si erge l'omonimo nobiliare palazzo.
