Es soll aus Pisa stammen und zur Zeit des Grafen Roger nach Sizilien gebracht worden sein, von dem ein Adamotto der größte Knappe gewesen sein soll. Ein Adam, Doktor der Rechtswissenschaften, war Lord von Callura, Steueranwalt des Tribunals von R. Patrimonio 1416, Präsident des Königreichs Sizilien 1433. Ein Nicolò Antonio erhielt mit dem Privileg vom 20. April 1446 den Titel eines königlichen Ritters für sich und seine und am 22. Februar 1453 bestätigte es das Targia-Lehen. Ein Hieronymus mit dem Privileg vom 4. März 1669, der am 24. März 1670 hingerichtet wurde, erhielt den Titel des Marquis von S. Giuliano, der später im Paternò-Haus verliehen wurde, in dem er noch erhalten ist. Ein Michele und Landolina war der erste Baron von Gisira in seiner Familie, der am 6.
