La famiglia è iscritta nel Libro d'Oro della Nob. Ital. e nell'El. Uff. Nob. Ital. col titolo di barone della Terza Dogana di Mare di Catania in persona di Sebastiano De Luca-Silipigni, di Antonino, di Sebastiano. Si vuole originaria di Ravenna, passata verso la fine del secolo XVI in Messina e di qui in Castroreale, dove, tra gli altri, notiamo un Tommaso giurato nel 1800-18801; un Antonino che sposò Giuseppa Cianciolo baronessa della Terza Dogana di mare di Catania e venne aggregato alla nobiltà messinese nel 1812. Con RR. LL. PP. del 17 agosto 1901 venne concesso al signor Antonino S. di Tommaso, di Antonino predetto, il Regio Assenso per assumere il titolo di Barone della Terza Dogana di mare di Catania. Egli sostenne gli uffici di assessore del Gran Priorato di Malta, di avvocato fiscale assessore straordinario del senato e di giudice della R. Gran Corte; ed in considerazione
