Familia española muy noble, que, por decir los Inveges, se extendió a Portugal, Nápoles y Sicilia, donde fue traída por un caballero portugués Ferdinando de Silva, junto con Andrea de Silva y Alarcón, un pariente suyo. Dicho Ferdinando, colocado a una Giovanna de Marinis, se convirtió en Marqués de Favara en 1559. También fue diputado del reino, presidente y capitán general 1559-60; No tuvo hijos. Sin embargo, la línea de Andrea continuó, de los cuales commendansi: un Francesco de Silva, capitán de infantería, cinco veces senador de Palermo y alcalde de dicha ciudad; y otro caballero Andrea de S. Giacomo della Spada, y el capitán de infantería. Levantó las armas: plata, con un león negro. Corona de marqués. Otra rama Familia antigua y noble, cuya rama principal (Gio Antonio de Rido della Silva, padre de Paolo I, aunque afirmaba descender del linaje ilustre de los Señores de Clermont del Delfinato,
