La familia era conocida en Reggio desde el segundo. XVI con un Agostino Silva, que vivió en 1512. Gian Nicolò, en 1545, fue el doctor Colegiatus, y Alfonso, notario en 1590. En 1631, Próspero fue rector de los orfanatos. En noviembre de 1624, un Giambattista Silva alojó al cardenal Bentivoglio. Hipólito, de Carlos, de Agustín, sacerdote.
