L'origine di questo illustre cognome, sulla base di riferimenti di storici dell'epoca e di altri rinvenuti dall'Araldis negli archivi anagrafici di città e altri privati, potremmo affermare, ma non assicurare, che questo scudo o altro ad esso molto simile, apparve inizialmente dall'XI al XIV secolo, in particolare nell'assalto all'Alcazar di Córdoba il 29 giugno 1236, come il culmine della campagna che era iniziata con alcune rivolte di confine e si concluse con la campagna di D. Fernando, re di Castiglia e chiamato il Santo. I riferimenti di questa famiglia sembrano precisarsi più frequentemente dal XV al XIX secolo, soprattutto le vicende della guardia del Duca di Feria che si occupò, insieme al Duca di Savoia, di difendere le monache nel saccheggio di le truppe spagnole a San Quintino il 27 agosto 1557. Tutto ciò sembra coincidere con la memoria familiare di alcuni membri del ramo della famiglia Simoes.
