Familia originaria de Bormio, en Valtellina. Obtuvo el título de noble de SRI con un diploma fechado el 26 de junio de 1686 del emperador Leopoldo I, en la persona de Giovanni Simoni, de quien descienden todos los miembros actuales. En 1786, un Alberto, de Gio. Battista, de Carlo Giuseppe, el último hijo del mencionado Giovanni, que residía entonces en la familia de Milán, solicitó el reconocimiento de la nobleza del Consejo de Gobierno del IR; pero la solicitud no fue aceptada porque el diploma de 1686 no se había completado de acuerdo con el art. III, primer párrafo de Providence sobre el Reglamento de la nobleza del 29 de abril de 1771. Sin embargo, el propio Alberto, en 1817, con la Resolución Soberana del 28 de enero, obtuvo la confirmación de la nobleza. Con la misma Resolución Soberana se confirmó la nobleza a Tommaso, sobrino ex hermano del mencionado
