Consultando vari scrittori, dicono che questa famiglia sia originaria di Toscana, così come attesta lo storico Giuliani Tiribelli nella suo " Sommario storico delle famiglie celebri Toscane, riveduto dal Cavaliere Luigi Passerini", edito in Firenze nel 1862. Dimorava la famiglia in Firenze. Nicolò di Tingo priore nel 1348, 1352 e 1375. Nel corso dei secoli famiglie omonime della stessa si trasferirono in varie regioni d'Italia, donde ne acquisirono la nobiltà e vi furono accolti nelle importanti cariche della città dove ebbero dimora, una di esse ebbe per arma: Trinciato inchiavato d'argento e di rosso, alla rosa del secondo posta in capo e l'ape d'oro posta in punta.
