Il cognome trovasi portato da diverse famiglie del Correggesco. Giuseppe A., di Quirino, valente professore di incisione all'Accademia di Modena, ottenne per sé e discendenti maschi l'iscrizione al ceto nobile di Correggio con delibera di quella Comunità del 6 maggio 1844. Tradizionale nella famiglia, non ricca ma di civile condizione proveniente da Fazzano villa del comune di Correggio, fu il genio per la musica nella quale ecclesero tre fratelli del prof. Giuseppe: Giovanni ((1767-1831), Luigi (1778-1815) e Bonifazio (1769-1833) il più noto di tutti, compositore e maestro veramente insigne. Bonifazio fu insignito della Cittadinanza nobile di Reggio con diploma dell'8 luglio 1826. Membri viventi: Luigi di Adolfo, di Raffaele, di Giuseppe, di Quirino. Sorelle: Amelia, Elena.
