Carlo Felice, coi diplomi in data 26 settembre 1826, concedeva a Giovanni Maria Siotto ed ai suoi figli e discendenti maschi i titoli di cavalierato e di nobiltà. Da questa antica, cospicua e nobile famiglia era nato in Cagliari Giovanni Siotto Pintor il 29 novembre 1805, nono figlio del predetto Giovanni Maria Siotto e di Luisa Pintor, sorella di Efisio Luigi, che tanta parte ebbe negli avvennimenti politici sullo scorcio del sec. XVIII. I ricordi degli antenati, la cui prima origine si vuol ripetere dalla Spagna, risalgono sino al secolo XVI. Egli conseguì la laurea in ambo le leggi, cioè nel diritto civile e canonico a diciannove anni. Tradizionale più che ereditario tra i suoi progenitori era lo studio delle giuridiche discipline ed avvocati preclari e di probità specchiata furono considerati da tutti.
