Fiorì con molto splendore d'antica nobiltà la famiglia over Saragosa in Saragoza d'Aragona, e fù così cognominata d'un Cavaliero, che il primo di tutti da poter de' Mori la fortezza di quella Città. Quindi ne pervenne Mossen Guerao Saragosa Cavaliero stimatissimo per le sue virtù da' Regi Aragonesi Giacomo, e Pietro; fù Castellano di Purpugnano, quale carica hebbe poscia confirmata dal Rè Giacomo Secondo. Mossen Garzi da Saragoza suo figlio, come accenna Zurita nel suo libro nel 1334, fù gran Cavaliero, e servì il suo Rè in molte guerre. Il medesimo autore, dice anche, che Mossen Pietro da Saragos, fù Governatore per parte del Rè Alfonso Quarto d'Aragona dell'Isola delli Gerbi nel 1335, il cui figlio Antonio dopo che finì il carico di Governatore nel Ducato d'Atene, fù da medesimi Popoli per importanti affari mandato Ambasciatore al Rè Pietro IV d'Aragona nel 1302 secondo il medesimo Zurita.
