Secondo il Villabianca questa famiglia vantasi derivare da un'altra romana de' Bitini, così detti dall'impresa per essi fatta della conquista della Bitinia in Asia. Ignoriamo la data del passaggio di essa in Sicilia stabilita in Marsala sin dal secolo XVI, trovando un Giovanni con la carica di capitano di giustizia di detta città nel 1521. Un Rosario e Fardella, colonnello di cavalleria e governatore di Favignana, tenne con privilegio 30 marzo 1752-28 aprile 1753 il titolo di marchese; Mario nipote precedente, fu investito del detto titolo a 17 maggio 1769 e fu capitano di giustizia di Marsala nel 1798-99: Giuseppe, di Mario, ottenne investitura del titolo di marchese a 10 marzo 1804.
