Si favoleggiò una volta sull'origine fiorentina, ma senza basi sicure e senza notizie storiche. La famiglia è oriunda di Gandino o di Lovere; passò poi a Verona e a Brescia agiungendo ivi il cognome de Noris e un ramo si portò poco più tardi nel Trentino. Già verso la metà del 1500 un Girolamo, console della città di Trento, rappresentava il proprio governo alla dieta di Innsbruck. Il capostipite della fam. nobilitata fu il dottor Giovanni Giacomo (1605-1681), consigliere aulico vescovile, cancelliere del principato e capo-console di Trento il quale, insieme col fratello Cristoforo, ricevette dal vescovo Carlo Emanuele Madruzzo, con diploma del 6 marzo 1649, il privilegio di nobiltà, riconosciuta anche per S.R.I. dall'imper. Ferdinando III 6 ottobre 1654. Ferdinando Maria, elettore di Baviera, con diploma in data 3 maggio 1658, promosse alla dignità di conti palatini, con tutti i diritti annessi, Giovanni Giacomo e i suoi figli Antonio,
