The origin of this illustrious surname, by references from historians of the time and others found out by Araldis in the registry files of cities and other private ones, we could affirm, but not assure, that this shield or another very similar to it, initially appeared from the XI to XIV century, particularly in the repopulation of Estella, late XII century, being one of the families to reside within the city walls. The references of this family seem to be needed more frequently from the XV to the XIX century, especially the events of the government of the Viceroyalty of Peru, being an adviser and collaborator of Don Gaspar de Zúñiga, fifth count of Monterrey. All this seems to coincide with the family memory of some of the members of the Sobral family branch. They are his weapons: In gold, five paneles of gules, put on the cross. The study of the family heraldic shield "speaks" to us of those who formed the origin of the S. family, since that was its function, that of manifesting its differential elements to others. The enamels of the weapon of the S. proclaim the following values: Gold is the symbol of the Sun, origin of life, its spiritual characteristics correspond to faith, mercy, temperance, charity and justice, on the other hand said enamel points to the family with happiness, love, nobility and splendor, that is, it is the noblest of metals.
