Si credono del medesimo stipite dei Rolandinghi. Tennero sede principale nel castello d'Anchiano, e ne erano possessori fin dal 925. S'intitolarono perciò signori d'Anchano, sebbbene avessero pur signoria in Roggio, Gragno, Garfigliano, Riana, Mologno, Colognara, Sala, Cune, Fornori, Chifenti, ecc. Nel 1209 prestarono giuramento di fedeltà al Comune di Lucca ed allora furono accolti fra i cittadini lucchesi. Ebbero probabilmente casa in Lucca, perocchè trovansi fra gli esclusi dal partecipare al governo nella lista di proscrizione contro magnati contenuta nello Statuto del 1308. Assunsero pure alcuni di loro il titolo di signori del Castello di Rocca, castello prossimo al Borgo a Mozzano, che sembra sia stato edificato da un ramo di questa famiglia.
