Questa famiglia trae le sue origini dalla Provenza ove negli albori della Cavalleria si disse Foucault. Da questa uscì quell'eminente prelato segretario ed amico del re Luigi IX e che nell'anno 1265 ascese alla tiara col nome di Clemente IV. Il cognome mutò quasi insensibilmente col ramo trasferitosi in Spagna dando origine alla attuale fam. Solchi de Cardona. Un altro ramo scese in Italia e propriamente a Fiesole. Dalla famiglia di Fiesole uscirono onorati del seggio vescovile Guglielmo e Roberto. Nella cattedrale di Fiesole sotto lo stemma è l'iscrizione. Nell'Archivio del Sovr. Mil. Ordine di Malta si legge un Solchi cavaliere nel 1266 ed un altro Federico che fu ammiraglio nella guerra contro la mezzaluna. Simone 1484 e Benedetto suo figlio 1530 furono priori a Fiesole.
