Famille florentine très ancienne et illustre, avec résidence à Santa Croce, dans la bannière du Lion noir, qui comptait parmi celles appelées "premier cercle", connues à Florence depuis l'époque consulaire. Soldano di Bonaccorso combattit à la bataille de Montaperti en 1260 et laissa le nom de sa maison, qui de 1343 à 1488 donna à la République un gonfalonier et treize prieurs. Le sénateur Jacopo, di Bernardo, vaillant en lettres au XVIIe siècle, était ajo du cardinal Leopoldo de 'Medici, et Filippo, sur son fils, était évêque de Fiesole.
