Antica e nobilissima famiglia del Regno di Napoli, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Originaria di Spagna, ove era conosciuta come Solises e godeva di grande considerazione alla corte di re Pietro d'Aragona, fu portata in Sicilia al tempo di re Giacomo, con un Piergarsia Solises, poi trascritto come Solito, il quale divenne governatore di Siracusa e castellano di Jaci. Furono suoi discendenti molti pregevolissimi individui. Ricordiamo: Blasco Solito, governatore di Siracusa; Giovanni Solito, cameriere dell'infante Violante, moglie del duca Roberto di Napoli e capostipite della linea Solito in questa città; Pietro Solito, maestro razionale sotto la Regina Maria; Garibaldo Solito, giudice e capitano di Termini nel 1406; Vincenzo Solito, capitano giustiziere di detta città al tempo dell'Imperatore Carlo V; Giuseppe Solito, giurato, capitano giustiziere, governatore e promaestro portulano di Sciacca e di Girgenti.
