Antigua familia veronesa, originaria de Milán, conocida en Verona con el nombre de Stopazzola de una tierra de este nombre propiedad de la familia, erigida en un feudo noble y jurisdiccional en 1478. Desde 1465 ha sido una muestra de la estimación, pero no se agregó al Consejo que en 1713. El feudo de Stopazzala fue erigido en el condado por el Senado de Véneto con el Decreto 31 de marzo de 1703 y desde ese momento la familia disfrutó de su título, que con el de un noble de Verona fue reconocido con DM el 28 de julio de 1895. Otra rama Familia antigua y noble, originaria de Liguria. Otra familia levantó sus armas.
