Antica famiglia veneta, di chiara ed avita virtù, alla quale appartenne quel Leon, il quale fu assai prode nell'armi nel XIII secolo, al tempo delle fazioni guelfa, e ghibellina. Tuttavia, avendo avuta la peggio, si ricoverò in Oriente, dov'ebbe figli e nipoti sollevati alla signoria dell'isola di Paro e duchi d'Andro. Un Giorgio fu poeta, governatore di Gradisca e cavaliere; Aurelio e Bianco, condottieri di gente d'armi; Giovanni, sopraintendente a tutti i forti soggetti al dominio veneto. Questa casa nel 1414 conseguì l'ascrizione al nobile Consiglio veronese e fu elevata ai primi onori municipali. Altro ramo. Antichissima famiglia di Lodi, detta Sommariva o Sommaripa, le cui prime memorie risalgono al 924, ossia quando un Pietro S. vendeva parte del castello di Turano e del palazzo di Vairano a Tommaso Vignati, fratello di Egidio, vescovo di Lodi Vecchio.
