La famiglia raggiunse la notorietà durante l'assedio di Federico Barbarossa nel 1155, da cui le prime notizie: un Arcino Bordonus e un Prevosto de Pulvinis, patrizi, assistono e coadiuvano efficacemente l'Abate Brunone di Bagnolo, al quale era stato affidato dai Tortonesi l'incarico d'intercedere presso l'imperatore, al fine di ottenere condizioni onorevoli, per la resa della città dopo due mesi di estenuante assedio. Il Salice nei suoi "Annali Tortonesi" afferma pure che la famiglia, dovendo abbandonare la città, trasmigrasse a Cuquello, località situata nel cuneo montuoso tra lo Scrivia ed il Borbera. Nel 1202, 19 luglio un Burdonus di Pavia è teste in un atto, ove alcuni ecclesiastici e il podestà di Alessandria eleggono l'arciprete della chiesa di S. Dalmazzo, per appellare al papa, tramite il Vescovo di Pavia, in merito alle cause attinenti la loro città. Rubaldo Sordoni, nel 1235, sedeva al Consiglio di Tortona ed il 6 gennaio sottoscriveva
