Originaria di Amalfi, dove le prime memorie risalgono al 1098, passò in Napoli, donde diramossi in Ravello, Scala, Cava, Vietri, Gragnano e Vico, nelle quali tutte à goduto nobiltà, e nel 1526 fu aggregata al patriziato romano. Tauro, figlio di Sergio, antipato imperiale in Amalfi nel 1098; Giovanni giudice di Amalfi nel 1259; Pietro, giudice anch'esso, nel 1274 sottoscrisse le consuetudine amalfitane; Giambattista sindaco di Scala nel 1553; Sebastiano Vescovo di Troja; Domenico Vescovo di Ruvo e poi di Volterra. Arme del casato: D'azzurro, a tre girelli d'oro, posti in banda; col capo cucito d'azzurro, caricato da una stella d'oro, accompagnata da due rose di rosso.
