Família descendente de Nuno de Goes, escudeiro fidalgo, e de sua mulher Inês de Valadares Sotomayor, cujo filho, Francisco de Almeida Sotomayor, cavaleiro fidalgo da C. R. (alvará de 1.3.1565) embarcou em sete armadas à sua custa, socorreu a praça de Mazagão e foi casado com D. Isabel Gomes de Goes, filha de Nuno Álvares Pereira, de Alenquer, e de sua mulher D. Antónia de Goes, filha de Ruy Dias de Goes, cavaleiro fidalgo, almoxarife da rainha em Alenquer, senhor das saboarias de Alenquer, Arruda, Azambuja, Aldeia Galega, Golegã, Óbidos, Atouguia de Baleia, etc., e de sua 4ª mulher Isabel Gomes de Limy. Do casamento de Francisco de Almeida Sotomayor nasceu Heitor de Almeida de Goes, fidalgo de cota de armas (c. de 27.3.1620), fidalgo cavaleiro da C. R. (alvará de 16.1.1623), que casou em 2ª núpcias com D. Isabel de Freitas Fialho, de quem teve a António de Goes Sotomayor, o qual, a 31.7.1652, tomou posse do vínculo dos Goes, por desistência de Sebastião de Macedo de Carvalho e Menezes, e casou com D. Isabel Correia Pato. Uma neta deste casal, D. Dionísia-Teresa de Sotomayor, casou com José-Alberto de Figueiredo, fidalgo cavaleiro da C. R., de quem teve a Francisco de Figueiredo (n. em Lisboa, a 23.4.1725), que, do seu casamento com D. Mariana-Rita de Távora (filha única do sargento-mór João-Manuel de Távora e mulher D. Francisca-Xavier de Castro), teve a Vicente-Paulo de Figueiredo de Goes Sotomayor, tenente do regimento de Setúbal.
