Di questa antica e nobile famiglia pistoiese era componente Zomino, nato il 29 giugno 1387 in Pistoia, figlio di Ser Bonifazio di Jacopo Zozzomeni, e non Sozzomeni. Bonifazio fu anziano della città nell'anno 1383, e suo padre Jacopo fu podestà di Marliana nell'anno 1351. Vedendosi in Zomino sin dalla sua tenera età la particolare intelligenza fu mandato sotto la direzione del dott. Antonio di Sersalvi da San Giuminiano, e fu sì felicemente incamminato nello studio delle buone lettere, che entrato nell'Università di Padova il 13 Dicembre 1406 giunse decorosamente alla laurea del dottorato; tornò in Pistoia, e ottenne un canonicato nella cattedrale di San Zenone. Il vescovo Donato Medici di Pistoia lo fece suo vicario generale, e in questa carica mostrò dottrina singolare, prudenza e giustizia nel risolvere e trattare le questioni della diocesi. Partecipò al Concilio di Costanza nel 1417 ove dettò le nuove regole per l'elezione del nuovo
