E' il ramo primogenito dell'antica e nobile famiglia Spada. Alessandro, nato a Roma da Giovanni Girolamo III e da Maddalena dei marchesi di Ceva, fu priore dei Caporioni nel 1742 e in data 30 ottobre 1758 fu ascritto tra i 60 romani patrizi coscritti al posto della famiglia Melchiorri estinta, nel 1763 fu conservatore dell'Urbè; il 27 novembre 1763 venne aggregato con tutta la discendenza al patriziato sammarinese; nel 1769 ebbe la dignità di ciambellano imperiale; e nel 1775 entrò a far parte dell'Accademia Cortonese degli Etruschi. Egli il I ottobre 1763 sposò la nobile donna Eleonora Lavini, di Vercelli, dama dell'I.O. della Croce Stellata, figli del conte Pomponio Lavini, conte di Montepolesco, nobile di Roma, di Osimo e di S. Severino la quale come ultima discendente di sua nobile famiglia non solo portò in casa Spada tutto il patrimonio, ma anche tutti i diritti e i
