De esta familia lombarda hay recuerdos antiguos antes de la floreciente rama, trasplantada en el siglo pasado en la ciudad de Vigevano, que fue atribuida al patricio hereditario de la República de S. Marino. Entre los hombres ilustres que emergieron de su seno, le gusta recordar un Iacopo y un Ambrogio que, bajo el mando de un Barbiano, líder de Gian-Galeazzo Visconti, participó gloriosamente en la batalla de Casaleccio que ganó al boloñés en 1402; un soldado de Giovanolo al servicio de Filippo-Maria Visconti, duque de Milán, quien murió gloriosamente en un delito contra los venecianos en 1426; un Pietro asignado a la jefatura de policía bajo Lodovico il Moro en 1498; y un Marco abogando por el Sforreschi, en el último de los cuales mantuvo una fe constante.
