Il casato Paxinus farebbe credere probabile sia questa famiglia di preferenza di origine italiana ed eguale abbia avuto coi Pasini di Padova e di Ferrara, che riconoscono per stipite un Pasino e che nelle antiche scritture trovansi indicati de Paxinis. Il fatto che in tutta la Sardegna nessun altro casato esiste, non solo identico, ma che neppure gli rassomigli, può far credere possibile questa ipotesi. Qualunque però sia l'origine, certo è che la famiglia aveva alla fine del secolo XV esistenza e stato in Sardegna.
