Sicilian family and probably of Pisan origin, known since the thirteenth century. A Nicolò was viceroy of the Kingdom of Sicily in 1424; he wrote around the Sicilian Vespers and achieved the states of Paternò, Spaccaforno, Castelluzzo, Granieri, Cassibile, Sammarco, Celso, Monteclimito and Cipulla. In 1448 Peter was also viceroy of the Kingdom, lord of Alcamo and Calatafimi, rational master of the Kingdom and praetor of Palermo in 1461. Vassallo, his brother, was ambassador of Sicily to James of Aragon; Andrea, Duke of Valverde and Bologna, in 1728 was superior of the Company of Charity of Palermo, in 1737, and governor of the Monte di Pietà in 1749, Giuseppe, his son, had the same offices and was lord of the fiefdoms of Ducco, Aquila and Gemaria, in the Val di Mazzara.
