Gli S. per costante tradizione discendono dalla famiglia di Bevagna, così chiamata dalla terra di origine, nota nel secolo XII, allorché possedeva Gualdo e Girona. Figurò tra i consoli di Bevagna ed occupò cariche militari e civili di molto rilievo. In epoche a noi vicine, un Alessandro fu governatore di Civita Castellana, Orte, e Cascia e vice-gerente di Terni, Rieti e Tivoli; Floriano fu podestà di Serra San Quirico (1738). Il titolo comitale è stato usato da questa famiglia da epoca remota, tanto che nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano è stato ad essa attribuio per antichissimo possesso. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di conte (mpr.), in persona di Alessandro, di Paolo, di Alessandro, di Paolo, di Giacomo; spos. con Antonietta Doria. Figli: Dino, nato a Fossombrone 14 gennaio 1882; Mario, nato a Bevagna 25 agosto 1884; Ugo, nato a Bevagna 23 aprile 1886;
