Na Espanha teve muitos varões ilustres e grandes casas, como as dos Marqueses de Balhazes, Duques de S. Severino e outras. Lucano S. fez registar as suas armas em Portugal, o que o Rei D. Manuel lhe concedeu por Carta de 1513, na qual se lhe chama Lucano de Espíndola. Esta família fixou-se na Madeira. Timbre: o ramo do escudo.
