Le più antiche notizie sulla famiglia Sporoni risalgono al 1185, in cui è ricordato un Valterio, che nel 1190 accompagnò Enrico IV nella sua discesa verso Roma. Il 5 gennaio 1231 si trova un accenno a Oluradino in qualità di "miles de genere militum", che appare come vassallo dei conti di Appiano. Non vi è certezza alcuna se i vari rami, di cui si trova cenno nei documenti, discendono da un unico ceppo. E' certo che il capostipite della famiglia odierna è Volcmaro di Burgstall, discendente dagli S. Parchines, stabilitasi in Val Venosta. Egli fu una delle persone più importanti del suo tempo nel principato di Trento; godeva la fiducia dei vescovi e anche quella dei conti di Tirolo, e lo si trova, come "nobilis miles" nel 1312. Nell'anno 1314 egli accompagnò il duca a Francoforte sul Reno per la elezione dell'imperatore e il re Enrico lo nominò suo amministratore.
