La famiglia S. fu grande, e potente in Arezzo; e di questa si vede un marmo antichissimo inserto nel palazzo de' Signori Priori, e Gonfaloniere di quella Città nel quale si legge. Q. S. Triumviro, Edile, e soprastante del Calendario Aretino; che per essere stato conosciuto il suo merito, e la qualità del suo valore dal Senato Romano, lo creò soprastante del Comune di Verulonia, d'avantaggio l'onorò del Cavallo Publico di Lauro Lavinio, come l'attestano le lapidi d'Arezzo; della cui famiglia fu anche quel L. S., riferito da Valerio Massimo, per specchio lucidissimo, ed un'esemplare di castità, e di continenza. Fu poi associata alle famiglie Romane, per i meriti del sopraddetto Q. S.; e di, fatto il Panuino nel suo trattato la pone con l'altre dopo Cesare Augusto, Romana; benche la chiami Spurilia in vece di A., e di questa si vede Console quel Petilio S., che nominò il P.
