Umberto I Re d'Italia, con decreto 13 Luglio 1886 concesse a Tomaso S. il titolo di barone colla rinnovazione in suo favore del predicato di Palermiti Guarna, esistito ed estintòsi in un ramo di sua famiglia, trasmissibili ai suoi discendenti maschi in linea e per ordine di primogenitura. Altro ramo. Investita con Regio Decreto 13 luglio 1886 del titolo di barone di Palermiti e Guarna (mpr.), in persona di Tommaso Squitti, nato l'8 settembre 1831. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di barone di Palermiti e Guarna (mpr.), ed è rappresentata da Nicola, di Tommaso, di Nicola. Figli: Eleonora, Maria Adelaide. Fratelli: Baldassarre, Maria.
