Diede alla patria 23 decurioni, de' quali il primo fu Corradino eletto nel 1145, e l'ultimo Giacomo-Maria eletto nel 1621. Furono giureconsulti collegiati Ottolino nel 1336, e Graziolo nel 1387. Tra questa famiglia la sua origine in Lombardia, non possonno le lingue dolose criticare contro l'antichissima origine, e progressi di questa chiarissima famiglia. Di origine longobarda, le prime sue memorie in Milano rimontano al tempo di Federico II, conforme riferisce il Morgia Paolo nella "Nobiltà di Milano divisa in sei libri" stampato in Milano nel 1595. Lo stesso autore riferisce essere questa una delle più nobili ed antiche famiglie di Milano. Lo stemma della famiglia Staoli è: Di rosso, alla croce arrotondata d'argento.
