Antica famiglia feudataria e patrizia, originaria di Salerno, ricevuta nel S.M.O. di Malta del 1664. Feudataria di Ogliastro, col titolo di marchese, di cui ebbe l'ultima intestazione, nel Cedolario del Principato Citra, il 13 marzo 1782, Pietro, per successione del marchese Gaetano, del quondam Giuseppe, che ne ottenne eguale intestazione feudale, nei Cedolri, il 14 sett. 1741. Possedettero anche il feudo di Casalnuovo, in Principato Citra, del quale ebbe l'ultima intestazione il 22 dic. 1797, Giovan Battista, per successione di Nicola, suo padre. La nobiltà generosa di questa fam. fu riconosciuta, nel 1848, quale patrizia Guardia del Corpo del sig. Giuseppe. Trovasi detta fam. ascritta al Registro delle Piazze Chiuse, col titolo di marchese, con Pietro, e col suo figliuolo Matteo, e, nella linea della famiglia di Casalnuovo, nelle persone di Giovan Battista e Nicola. E col titolo di patrizio di Salerno i discendenti da Scipione e dai suoi fratelli:
