Antica famiglia veronese, originaria da Milano, nota in Verona col nome di Stopazzola da una terra di questo nome posseduta dalla famiglia, eretta poi in feudo nobile e giurisdizionale nel 1478. Sin dal 1465 figura nel campione dell'estimo, ma non fu aggregata al Consiglio che nel 1713. Il feudo di Stopazzala fu eretto in contea dal Senato Veneto con Decreto 31 marzo 1703 e da quell'epoca la famiglia ne godette il titolo comitale, che con quello di nobile di Verona fu riconosciuto con D.M. 28 luglio del 1895. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio. Quel che però di certo habbiamo, è che la casata per la loro antichità, e splendore, e per virtù militare, carrichi così laicali,
