Giovanni Gaspero, del fu Giuseppe Strigelli, di antica ed illustre famiglia milanese, era venuto a stabilirsi in Palazzuolo, dove aveva acquistati molti beni e costruito un magnifico palazzo in tempo di carestia per venir in aiuto alla classe povera, segnalandosi anche in altre opere filantropiche. Perciò il magistrato civico di Prato aveva il 27 marzo 1816 proposto al granduca, che con decreto 10 luglio di quell'anno accoglieva la proposta, di decorarlo della nobiltà di Prato in vista dei suoi meriti personali e della cospicua proprietà che aveva non solo a Palazzuolo, ma altresì in Firenze, a Fiesole e in varie località dello stato pontificio. Esso Giovanni Gaspero, che era nato il 24 novembre 1768, ebbe, dal suo matrimonio con Anna Carlotta, di Antonio Massotti, i figli Giuseppe Antonio e Mario e le figlie Maria Maddalena e Maria Angiola. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di nobile
